How to: wheel pose
.
Thanks for sharing @freya.yoga
. . .
Full break down of wheel pose or Chakrasana or Urdhva Dhanurasana.
If you need more space walk the feet further away from the hands but try to keep the hips and knees square and the elbows lifted and chest projecting upward.
.
To preform wheel pose safety and correctly take it step by step with postures to warm up, open and strengthen your body (see previous post!) Do not attempt if you havenāt warmed up or lack the flexibility yet. Wheel pose can be used in your yoga routine to strengthen the Buttocks, Abdomen, Vertebral column, back, Wrist, Legs, Arms.
It also opens up the chest and strengthens the lungs and allows increased amounts of oxygen into the rib cage.
.
You can come into wheel from bridge pose with the hands by your ears.... or if you have greater flexibility in the quads, thighs and shoulders, try lowering from standing up, keeping the legs straight and tailbone tucked in for as long as possibleš
ā¢ ā¢ ā¢ ā¢
Your journey looks different from everyone elseās, and thatās the beauty of your practice šš¼ To prevent injury in your hamstrings or low back during forward folds, you can also bend your knees or use a strap!
Thanks for sharing šš¼ā„ļø @alyssa.mak
.
āØsave thisāØ
.
Itās okay if you canāt touch your toes. Yoga is a journey not a destination.
.
Sometimes we are so scared of not being good at something, so we donāt even try. We put so much pressure on ourselves to be the master of something before we even begin.āØāØGive yourself permission to start from the beginning as a beginnerš„°
.
Struggling with sit-ups? Or roll ups giving you neck pain?
We often over compensate in our shoulders and neck to lift ourselves into a sit up position or trunk flexion. This is because weāre not initiating the movement effectively from our abdominal muscles.
We use momentum to throw ourselves forward and skip over the areas which need to be strengthened and worked.
@aurorabowkett
š„Yoga burnout is real!š„
To get back into it try implementing small changes into your routine, such as changing the type of outfits you wear on your mat. šØš»āšš§š¼āāļøšš¼šÆāāļø

An amazing Asana which you can do especially after running, walking or cycling. Here are the benefits:
1. The back, inner part of the legs, and the spine are stretched and strengthened.
2. The abdominal organs are toned, and therefore, digestion is improved.
3. The brain is calmed.
4. It relieves backaches, headaches, fatigue, and mild depression.

Walls, weĀ ā¤ļø you. Thank you for helping our journeys into challenge poses - like handstand tucks!ā
What other poses have you used the wall for?ā
Tag your yogi friends for inspo! @janiceliou šā

WARM-UP: wrist stretches and strengtheners (I only briefly show this)ā
KEY TIPS:ā
- Keep your head lifted (ears in front of your biceps)ā
- Hug your armpits in (instead of flaring the elbows wide, hug your elbows towards one another with straight arms)ā
- Round the upper back (but keep head lifted)ā
- Draw your ribs down and in (think of contracting your core like youāre trying to pull your ribcage down to your hip bones)ā
- To find balance and take flight: slightly arch your hips so that they stack over your shoulders (cat/cow action - cat rounding in the upper back but slight cow arching in your lower)ā
- Hug your legs and toes together so that you have better spacial awarenessā
- Donāt over-do it! Practice during commercial breaks rather than for an hour long and youāll keep those wrists happy!ā
- Be patient and allow yourself to fail, its a necessary stepping stone to success

BOAT POSE PROPER FORM + BEGINNER MODIFICATIONS š§āāļøā ā
Boat Pose is a great core strengthener, but in order to obtain the full benefits, you need to make sure you are using proper form!ā
ā
Mistakes people make in Boat:ā
āNot engaging the core ā
āRounding the backā
āNot engaging the chestā
āCollapsing through the chestā
ā
You can easily fix this by using one tool: a strap!ā
ā
ā
Wrap the strap around you feet and use it to help lift through your chest and keep a straight back.ā
ā
ā
Proper alignment in Boat:ā
ā Straight backā
ā Lifting through chestā
ā Engaged legs and extending through heels or toesā
ā Engaged coreā
