“Go then, there are other worlds than these.” @witchoria x @dave.krugman Other Worlds IV 🌹 ヽ(°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ᴗ°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ )ノ Finally figured out how to make these babies in After Effects. I posted a rough snippet of this animation a few weeks back and immediately Dave hit me up with some ideas for a collab. One Dark Tower nerd mind meld later and we got this (and more to come). Need to do it a few more times before I can make a tutorial, but maybe I’ll do a lil walkthrough later today. I think for the second iteration of this I might mess around with some pixel sorting and maybe figure out a cooler way to animate the portal in and out of the scene. But I’m really happy with how these are evolving.

Black lives matter, black people deserve better. White people (me included) need to step the fuck up. I think about how I marched for Eric Garner, but then watched (from my place of privilege) for six fucking years while nothing changed. It consumes me with anger, and heartbreak, and guilt. Because if we (white people) had actually followed through maybe George Floyd and Breonna Taylor (and many many others) would still be alive. Enough is enough. It’s time to put in the work. At a bare minimum you should: • Be actively anti-racist (@goodgoodgoodco has a great guide to get started). No more of this passive shit. • Call out casual racism when you see it. No more apologizing for your racist [insert family member]. • Educate yourself about racism and white supremacy however your brain will absorb it (you can *very easily* google lists of podcasts, books, documentaries, etc.) • Donate what you can afford • Support black businesses • Sign petitions, call/text/write your elected officials (link in my bio is a great starting point) • Vote every chance you can for people that will actually make a difference

“Go then, there are other worlds than these.” I find myself coming back to the Dark Tower over and over again. The worlds that Stephen King transported me to bleed into my work on a regular basis. With I feel like I'm even closer to bringing those worlds to life. The next thing I wanted to pressure test in a 3D workflow was my day to night manipulation process. When I make these in photoshop, for the most part I’m just eyeballing how the light might fall and doing it up with a soft eraser. With I get a more realistic picture of how light might interact with an environment. That ability to build environment studies for each piece is such a game-changer. Howdy my fellow digital manipulation weirdos. LONG TIME NO SEE. 👏Hope 👏 ur 👏 ready👏 for 👏some👏 tuts.👏 So as most of you know I have been making geometric reflections for like 8+ years now. In that near-decade of experimentation I’ve thought many many times about how I’d love to make them in 3D, but the learning curve for 3D is so sharp and the software/hardware is so G-D expensive that I just never got around to it… until now. Geometric Reflections, meet . Thanks to Dimension I finally got the push I needed to start playing around with 3D. So I know it’s been awhile. 30-something depression hits different. 2020 is a fucking shit show. Making weird photoshops was how I used to vent, and not doing that has been not great for my brain. I never expected such a large following and I think it had a negative impact on that process. I’m not sure if it’s just a New York thing, but I spend 90% of the day with headphones on. (Who needs to talk to other humans amirite?) So I have all of these self-applied soundtracks to different parts of my life. For this creative challenge I partnered with @lightroom to make a piece inspired by Vampire Weekend. So I threw on the tunes and got to work. And voilà, we got 2019: A Babe Odyssey. @adobespark commissioned me to make a piece for the the Voodoo Fest creative challenge. The mission: Make a piece using at least one asset from the contest page. It sort of reminded me of college. Everyone get’s the same assignment and has to figure out how to put their own unique twist on it. What always amazed me was seeing how different each project ends up. Other Worlds - III • Repetition compulsion is a pretty consistent theme in my work. I explore a technique over and over and over again. So seven years later I’m still fucking with geometric shapes and landscapes. And I’m still not really sure why I make these (or anything). I just like to. They make my brain happy. • One thing I particularly love about the process is seeing how it evolves over time. Even from the last doorway to this one, it’s changed. I’m always discovering new pathways to get my final piece. So in the spirit of that, I am *trying* to record the process for every piece from now on. If you peep the story you’ll see a super fast cut, BUT I will edit that baby into a tutorial for the youtube and throw it up ASAP. • Also yes, I was the weirdo shooting this tangly grass instead of the Wanaka tree lmao. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ •
