Autumn has not disappointed this year and we are thankful!

What do you know about our watershed in the ? Let’s go on a watershed journey together starting at Upper Waterton Lake:
💧
> Upper Waterton Lake > Middle Waterton Lake > Lower Waterton Lake > Maskinonge > Waterton River > Belly River > Oldman River > South Saskatchewan River > Saskatchewan River > Lake Winnipeg > Series of small lakes > Nelson River > Hudson Bay
💧
The water we see here in the WBR is just at the start of a long journey. Not only does this water sustain us, our crops and livestock, the animals and other beings found in our ecosystem but the people and beings along its journey to the Hudson Bay. What we do here in the headwaters affects the quality and quantity of water available for people and ecosystems downstream.
💧
What are you doing in your day to day to keep our watershed healthy?

“Biosphere reserves are inspiring reminders of how to live and work in harmony with nature. That doesn’t mean living off the grid or preventing commercial economies”, says Jane Jankovic, TVO’s executive producer of documentaries. “As this TVO Original series shows, it is really about cultivating healthy relationships between people, wildlife, water and land to ensure nature and communities thrive for generations to come.”
Season 2 of the TVO Original Series ‘Striking Balance’ premiers on October 4th! Waterton Biosphere Reserve was featured in Season 1 - Episode 8. As the evening glow reaches across the land earlier and earlier in the day and the autumn air settles in, we all are doing what is needed to prepare for the coming winter. This shifting of seasons brings the realization that this summer went by quickly. We all made the best of it and we are all still in this together.
