It's only 70 km to cycle from Gold Coast to Brisbane. But it took nearly three weeks cause I was cycling far west, not directly north to Brisbane. I wanted to have the time to think. It's too difficult to choose what to do at this uncertain time and I am pressed by the time with the visa problem. One of my fav on the road is to keep check a map cause it shows many ways. When I found this road on the map, I was a bit scary to go through but decided to cycle on it. I half pushed and half cycled maybe. So steep đŸ€Ł. The rain made it harder but the scenery was really beautiful. Later an Aussie cyclist told me that this route is one of top 10 steepest roads in Australia. If I knew it, I am sure I didn't try with panic. In Australia, a nice camping site can be really expensive for a family cause pay is per person. But I found an amazing place run by grandma. It's only 3.5 USD/p but very spacious in front of the beautiful river. She wanted to make sure everyone can enjoy camping at the forest! I was invited to breakfast by their family and even shooting! I was very negative at gun that I was hesitated to join. They told me they don't hunt animal, but only shoot at the target. So I decided to give it try. Surprisingly it was so much fun!! And I was so good at it!! I really loved this camping spot that I stayed over five nights! haha. I saw Goanna, Snake, Koala, Kangaroo, Australian turkey, and many different birds here! Picture for 81,000 km Leaving Gold Coast. Just cycling around . But don't have plan though. Happy 9th year on the road! This morning I got a surprise gift from my dear Aussie family whom I've stayed with for a month. I was so touched to read "We Love Jin" on the top. Thank to all people traveling with me through offline and online. What I have learned from my trip is that the best moment is "Now" mostly. I don't need to visit the place such as top 10 attractions anymore because I have learned how to enjoy today with what I have. Enjoy now! (Article link on Bio)Today I was on Australian National Broadcast ABC TV news, ABC Gold Coast News, ABC Gold Coast Radio, and ABC Sydney Radio! What an exciting day! I was in Gold Coast around a month. I was working on crossing North Korean border but all have failed so far. My visa was expiring that I am applying a new visa which might fail. And then last week I saw the news that South Korea is having second wave. It made me depressed. I felt stuck middle of nowhere and I don't know where to go now. Then here some little gift to make me smile today. (National News said I am cycling up North in Australia. But my plan is to stop in Brisbane and keep working on crossing North Korean border though.) I was invited by Aussie family and I have stayed at their house almost a month. Their two kids have given me hug every morning and after the school. This kind of trip is never approved before for South Korean. In 2013, New Zealand motorbiker crossed North Korea and they traveled with a few authorities following behind on a car. I just found iPhone from my accommodation. It's weird that no one asked me to find their iPhone and it was actually hidden in the kitchen shelve. The box is iphone7, but real one is iphone11. I wrote it when I was cycling in Colombia, May 2012. I said "If I can travel safely Latin America, Africa, Europe, Middle East, and Asia, I must enter South Korea by land because South Korea is not an island!" I am in Gold Coast! To cross a state border was so easy, unlike my worries. There was no long queue, no questions, no check border pass, but the official said only "Good luck" Queensland is called Sunshine State because of the beautiful weather. Oops, sorry but there will be rain coming this week brought by my bicycle not me!! Plan A, going back to South Korea through North Korea, was failed. It's time to do Plan B. After sandy road, next day it was muddy, rainy, and windy. These days I have cycled hard. Tomorrow I will try to cross Queensland, state border. They closed their state border for a while. But they just reopen it. It needs border pass, which I got via online. Not sure I can cross the border without the problem although I have never been hot spot. It was too sandy road that even I had to carry my camping gear bag separately. It took two and half hours for 3 km. I thought there would be not much challenging left in Australia. Happy 9th year on the road! This morning I got a surprise gift from my dear Aussie family whom I've stayed with for a month. I was so touched to read "We Love Jin" on the top. (Article link on Bio)Today I was on Australian National Broadcast ABC TV news, ABC Gold Coast News, ABC Gold Coast Radio, and ABC Sydney Radio! What an exciting day! I was in Gold Coast around a month. I was working on crossing North Korean border but all have failed so far. My visa was expiring that I am applying a new visa which might fail. And then last week I saw the news that South Korea is having second wave. It made me depressed. I felt stuck middle of nowhere and I don't know where to go now. Then here some little gift to make me smile today. (National News said I am cycling up North in Australia. But my plan is to stop in Brisbane and keep working on crossing North Korean border though.) I was invited by Aussie family and I have stayed at their house almost a month. Their two kids have given me hug every morning and after the school. I am so lucky to find this family at uncertain time. Thank you Zoe, Jeremy, and their two kids... Love you guys with my deep heart and thank you for becoming my friend and supporting me.
