What you wear matters and I’m proud to wear @blundstoneusa, they’ve been on my feet everyday of this house build. It might not sound like much at first but standing on a roof 30 feet off the ground you have to trust everything underneath you. And I imagine if you give them a try you won’t wanna ever fuss with laces again. Slip on boot life y’all!
Anyhow! This is an but I believe in them and love them and if you’ve been on the fence this is their 150th anniversary, hard to think of a better moment to slide into a pair.

Good to see my red house be put to work✨ I think all those fancy van life builds are super neat and cozy but I needed something else for my life.
I needed a spot to sleep while I built my house, a van to travel with in the future, and an interior build that ain’t scared to work.
Building out a van that can hold a queen mattress, fridge, all those sort of bits, but still carry a cord of wood is my jam ✨

Soundproofing insulation day! You can go real wild with soundproofing techniques but I used this ‘safe ‘n sound’ stuff by Rockwool in my house in Nashville and I thought it was a worth the extra effort. Made the interior walls feel solid.
It’s def something you could do yourself, even if you’re having a contractor build a house for you. Cuts easy and holds right in place on the interior walls. Just make sure ya install it after the electricians and you pass inspection.
I looked around a bunch and Lowe’s has the best price on this stuff, if you buy at least 15 you get 30% off. Anyhow! A slight luxury but worth the $750✨

Still can’t believe I live here ✨ and in slightly exciting news I launched the house build website (link in bio!). The goal is to help take the mystery and overwhelming nature of building an affordable home and breaking it down into manageable steps. It’s not necessarily a detailed daily account of every hammer swing, but rather a stepped overview that allows you to lean on talented subs to build a house for 30-50% less than hiring a GC. And most build companies don’t even want to build homes less than ~1800sq ft.
It felt like such a risk selling my home in Nashville, a place that I built and actually existed, a home I could live in, for this dream of living in the mountains. It’s hard to write about but selling it for raw land without a home on it wasn’t easy. But now looking out at this view it was all worth it ✨ Posting times
