Day 12/31 - This is one of the examples that make me proud to be a farmer florist. I grow a lot of the flowers I use in my weddings, but still order in. There’s no way I can grow “Juliet” Garden Roses or Ranunculus in September. Or stock, I’ve tried and tried and it just doesn’t work for me. Plus, with such limited growing space “one and done” crops are kept to a minimum in my planting plans. From the garden, I added Dahlias, zinnias, Basil, Shiso, Gomphrena and Crabapple. Do you use both flown and grown? What’s the one crop you find is better ordered in? Besides stock and obviously Roses, I try to stay away from crops like flowering cabbage, bupleurum, and any crop that only produces one round of harvestable stems. I hope you enjoy this one, it’s one of my favorites!
Day 11/31 - Happy Sunday! We’re throwing it way back to almost 4 years to the day! This bouquet was my last wedding of the 2016 season. It includes roses “Cinnamon” (which are my favorite for fall and impossible to find now!), garden roses “Juliet”, Ranunculus, Anemones, Parrot Tulips, Stock, Eryngium and mums. I loved this bouquet so much! Looking back and know what I know now about seasonality, I think I would have kept the spring flowers out and added more fall blooms, but regardless, it’s one of my favorites! I hope you had a great weekend! If you are part of the @ascfginc , catch me tomorrow exclusively in their Facebook Group for members only, where I will be demonstrating a foam-free table runner!
Day 10/31 - A spot on yellow in your feed this beautiful Saturday! It was at this wedding that I fell in love with Yellow Lisianthus! Other ingredients include: yellow Columbine, Yellow Ranunculus, White Mignonette, Silene, dried Penny Cress, White cosmos and Grasses! Happy Saturday!
Day 9/31 - Happy Friday! Today’s stunner is from a Workshop I attended a while ago with the incomparable @ariellachezardesign . A beautiful mix of garden roses, peonies, “La Belle Époque” tulips, poppies and Martagon Lilies all came together to create a stunning blush/nude bridal bouquet. Just take a minute to notice the ribbons hanging, which added the perfect touch. Photographed by @corbingurkin
Day 8/31 - Still in day 8, still same bouquet. Photographed by @elizabethlanierphotography. Some days I force myself to walk around without a to-do list. I’m thankful for the job I have, I’m thankful that I get to do what I do everyday, and I’m thankful @yelsaeb27 and @runlikewildthings who literally do most of the work on the farm while I do the background work. I’m thankful I get to dream big for my company and help bring beauty to so many clients. There’s so much work to do that sometimes it’s good to go back to where it all started and get grounded. I’m thankful @elizabethlanierphotography came out to capture this moment. I’m also thankful I get to share what I know with others. If you are a @ascfginc member, catch me Monday, 10/12 at 6PM MDT/8PM EDT when I’ll be showing how I make my foam free table runners! This will be a @ascfginc exclusive so you have to be a member to join! Check out their exclusive facebook page to find out how to submit your questions to me!
Day 8/31 - You know I’m not afraid of color, and you know I like me some raspberry tones. This piece includes Scabiosas, Zinnias, tickseed, strawflowers, Dahlias and Pansies. The Pansies hold up great, and if you want stem length, plant them in your greenhouse and pinch, pinch, pinch. They make great cutflowers! Photographed by @elizabethlanierphotography , this is one of my favorite bouquets I’ve made!
Day 7/31 - One of the requests I get the most is “I don’t want a large bouquet”. I know this request will vary from bride to bride, most of my clients are looking for a bouquet that will complement their dress, more than distract from it. Here, I used Garden roses, Ranunculus, Poppies and Scabiosas with minimal greenery. This palette was perfect match to the dress and I was really pleased with the images! Do you get a lot of requests for large bouquets? If so, what mechanics do you use? They’re not only hard to hold for the bride, but also tricky to make for the florist! Let me know your thoughts below!
Day 6/31 - Give me all the local flowers! I think local flowers truly elevate a bouquet when it comes to this loose, natural look so many brides are asking for these days. Most of these blooms came from the farm, and I think the freshness and quality of local flowers is truly irreplaceable. This beauty includes “Cafe Au Lait” Dahlia, “Snow Puff” Cosmos, Orlaya, Chocolate Lace, Snapdragons, Ranunculus, “Fata Morgana” Scabiosa, Foraged Grasses, and Anemones. Eucalyptus, and olive along with roses and hellebore completed this look. That Dahlia, tho! 😍 📷 @toripintarphotography
Day 5/31 - Usually taking a day off means that I’m actually working from home. Lol Today is no different. Thanks to my awesome employees, I can actually stay home today and catch up on computer work. It’s weird when you grow your company so much that the more it grows, the less you do the thing you wanted to do as a business! That’s why, every now and then I’ll schedule a photo shoot, like this one. It allows me to be creative without strings or clients to appease. I used to do photo shoots more often, especially in the beginning, when I needed Portfolio images. Find a group of vendors that you click with and a photographer whose style accentuate your floral design style and collaborate. It will do you good and will create some connections for you that hopefully will turn into business in the future!
Day 4/31 - As much as I love an asymmetrical wild flower bouquet, a lush and delicious peony bridal bouquet has its place. This one has contrasting accents of Magnolia leaves for the perfect winter bouquet. Happy Sunday! 📷 @jeremiahandrachel
Dahlias are gone for the season! While they took a while to get blooming, it’s the longest season we’ve had! We went into October with Dahlias and that had never happened before! Pictured here is “Bracken Rose” and cannot wait til next year to see it blooming again!
