Today marks the start of .
We’re going to spend it telling the stories of iconic black British athletes, and where else to start but Harry Edward - a true pioneer.
After being a prisoner of war in the First World War, Harry won scores of national titles in Britain to earn a spot on Team GB at the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp.
Harry won two bronze medals at the Games to become Britain’s first-ever black Olympic medallist.
He went on to travel the world, using his multi-lingual skills as part of United Nations relief efforts.
