Do the changing seasons inspire your art? Lettering artist, illustrator, and Skillshare student @hello.tintin was inspired by Harry Potter, Hocus Pocus, Sabrina, and The Addams Family while creating this spooky, symmetrical illustration. “I encourage artists out there who have dedicated their lives to figuring out how to visually draw people in, to take the next step and use that ability and combine it with a very important issue or something that needs to be fixed. You combine those two things and it has the opportunity to really connect with people on a deeper level.
There’s some things I just can’t put into words. You have to experience them or see them. There’s just something with art that in a split second, it can get you to see an issue and understand why it’s so important, and motivate you to change. All in one second.” - Concept artivist, illustrator, and author @nikkolas_smith.

“I’m not going to explain to you why I like to use he, she, and they pronouns. I’m not going to explain to you why I like to talk about the melanin in my skin and how I feel blessed to have melanin in my skin. I’m just going to say these things because they are fact.” - Brooklyn-based Black queer femme activist, plant enthusiast, and community builder Christopher Griffin aka @plantkween.
Educating yourself on the topics that you want to speak out on is the first step to becoming an artivist. To help get you started on igniting your creative activism, Yasmine Cheyenne (@yasminecheyenne) writes about the history of creative activism and what it means to her, before sitting down for a conversation with Christopher Griffin (@plantkween) about expression, activism, and self-care.
