“First tour of the season is in the books. We started by visiting the Cape Merry National Historic site followed by Miss Piggy’s plane wreck, the Polar Bear Holding facility, Polar Bear Alley, Ithaca Point and the Churchill Northern Rocket Range. We explored the Western side of the Wildlife Management Area without any luck. It wasn’t until the end of the day when we got a heads up from @subarctic_explorers about two bears back near Cape Merry. Cheers Leroy!”

This year’s Arctic sea-ice extent minimum is the 2nd lowest on record in the satellite era (since 1979). However, reconstructions of past Arctic sea ice suggest this is also the 2nd lowest extent in at least the last 1,500 years. depend on for survival.
