Breakfast

We are very proud to announce that Penguin Bloom will have its world premiere at The Toronto Film Festival (TIFF). With only 50 films in total; by far the lowest number in the history of the festival, we are honoured to be the only Australian film selected in 2020. Penguin Bloom will be featured in the elite Special Presentation category, with just 6 other films (featuring such cinematic greats as Anthony Hopkins, Mads Mikkelsen, Olivia Colman and Viggo Mortensen). Seeing our story come to life on the big screen with such amazing actors was truly a remarkable experience for all of us. We are incredibly grateful to BTG who so beautifully wrote the original book Penguin Bloom that inspired our film and who constantly helps us navigate our way forward. Luckily, we have been surrounded by a fantastic group of producers, writers, director and a crew who all had our families best interests at heart. The honest and raw story telling was certainly overwhelming for us at times but that is exactly how Sam and I wanted it. Working closely with Andrew and Naomi and our director Glendyn before and during the filming was very special. And how could I not pay tribute to those real magpies who played Penguin!
