The New Western Australian Museum is now officially known as WA Museum Boola Bardip. In the Nyoongar language of the Whadjuk Noongar country where the museum sits, ‘Boola Bardip’ means ‘many stories’, and it honours the cultural heritage of Australia’s First Peoples. Designed by Hassell + OMA and built by managing contractor Multiplex, the museum has been conceived as a framework to share the diverse stories of Western Australia. Prince Plaza, designed by OMA / David Gianotten, is now open in Shenzhen, China. The mixed-use podium tower is located at Shekou’s most prominent view corridor linking the Nanshan mountains and the Shenzhen Bay. An ensemble of four bars with multiple sky decks, the tower offers ideal vantage points for both tenants and the public to enjoy vistas of the city’s natural environment, while responding to the scale of the existing urban fabric. MPavilion: Encounters with Design and Architecture, published by Thames & Hudson Australia in collaboration with the Naomi Milgrom Foundation, was launched today. Designed by Studio Ongarato, the book documents six editions of the MPavilion in Melbourne, including MPavilion 2017 by Rem Koolhaas and David Gianotten. Located in Melbourne’s Southbank Arts Precinct, MPavilion is a space for the community to engage in cultural happenings. MPavilion 2017 is a movable structure that allows various configurations to support different cultural programs. The new Western Australian Museum in Perth will be open to public on 21 November 2020. Formed with renovated heritage buildings and additional volumes, the Museum will offer new possibilities to present diverse stories of Western Australia to both local and global visitors. The project was designed in joint venture by international design practices @Hassell_Studio + OMA and built by @multiplexconstruction_au. It was delivered from Australia, with the architectural team led by David Gianotten and Paul Jones from OMA, and Mark Loughnan and Peter Dean from Hassell. The team looks forward to seeing visitors engaging with the WA Museum this November.
