Happy Indigenous Peoples Day! 🌿 Indigenous peoples comprise less than 5% of the world's population but protect 80% of global biodiversity. 💥 We must center Indigenous knowledge and sovereignty in the fight for climate and environmental justice. Thank you to the Indigenous activists and communities who—for millennia—have shown what being true stewards of the environment looks like.

Wolves play a key role in maintaining the natural balance of their ecosystems. They are under attack across the country, and their habitats are in danger if they disappear. Colorado has the chance to change the course of history for the wolf. Help us bring the wolf back to Colorado. Help us restore the balance for future generations.

We’ve seen some of you question how environmentalism is connected to colonialism, the ongoing practice of stealing land from Indigenous Peoples and exerting control over it and them. That extractive mindset has changed people, wildlife, lands, and the environment forever—and continues to do so today. Environmentalists must remember that American land is stolen land and center Indigenous sovereignty in the fight for environmental justice.

“Energy has played a huge role in the ways that Black people live and experience life in this country.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Alexis Cureton, NRDC
⠀⠀⠀⠀
NRDC California State Lead for Clean Energy and Equity, Alexis Cureton has spent years learning about the complexities of energy policy and how it intersects with environmental justice. As one of three Black people in the energy major concentration of his Policy Analysis MPA program, Alexis experienced first hand the ways that Black people are left out of energy curriculums and conversations and has worked to ensure they are at the table ever since.
⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now having worked with Spark Northwest, @gridalternatives, @greenlining, and NRDC, Alexis has dedicated his career to combining his knowledge of the energy sector with personal experience to advance equitable solutions. His mission? Boost energy literacy so that low-income communities of color can become their own advocates.
