On their quest to revolutionize treatments for blinding eye disease, scientists Botond Roska, Cameron Cowan, and Magdalena Renner from the Basel-based Institute for Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology (IOB), have grown accurate replicas of human retinas in dishes for the very first time. This might allow for future gene therapies to restore vision!
When it comes to driving research for the benefit of patients, this achievement clearly takes the cake!
