The Metropolitan Opera House, by Wallace K. Harrison, was completed in 1966. Artist Marc Chagall’s two murals, “The Triumph of Music” and “The Source of Music”, flank either side of the main hall. I will see if I have another photo that shows them better...

Colour or Mono? I couldn’t decide. This is the Commercial Travellers’ Association at the MLC Centre in Sydney, Australia. It was designed by Harry Seidler, and completed in 1975. I’ve always wanted to go inside... never have, though. I imagine businessmen in brown polyester suits with wide ties and mustaches drinking martinis with women in mini skirts and gogo boots whilst lounging on orange and fuchsia-coloured banquettes designed by Verner Panton. If that’s not what its really like, I don’t wanna know.

One of my favorite memories from the many trips I took with @sjlubell photographing and researching our @phaidonsnaps East Coast Mid-Century Modern Architecture guidebook was an impromptu visit to sculptor Tino Nivola’s home and studio. His daughter-in-law was a wonderful host, inviting us in her home for freshly baked blueberry muffins and coffee, while we discussed Nivola’s legacy and this wonderful mural that Le Corbusier painted in the living room in 1950, while he was staying there during an extended trip to the US. This mural is the only Corbu mural in the US.
