Exciting news! 's monumental installation "mistikôsiwak (Wooden Boat People)"—the inaugural commission for a new series of contemporary projects in the —will join The Met's permanent collection.
Comprising two works titled "Welcoming the Newcomers" and "Resurgence of the People," the installation has been on view in the Great Hall since December 2019 and will remain on view through November 16.

Today on , we're revisiting this 2018 episode of as Yale professor Ned Blackhawk (Western Shoshone) emphasizes the importance of including Indigenous art in The Met's American art collection and walks us through some of the works in "Art of Native America: The Charles and Valerie Diker Collection" in The American Wing.
The Diker gift radically reorients how the Museum presents American history and the colonial encounter.
