Who still remembers Kevin? One of my special current fosters. He's doing really well health wise. He has recovered from a neuter and he's biting much less and trusting more. He still has his sad moments when I'm sure he's thinking of his human but he is adjusting well under the circumstances. We're now trying to find the perfect foster to introduce to him so he can have a ratty friend. I'll update once we have someone for him 💛

The vet follow ups with Mojo and Pinks went really well today. Unfortunately I can't say the same about Orbit. I gave more details on each of them in my stories if you want to have a look.
The vets are worried about a possible pituitary tumour with Orbit. I'm honestly still in denial and hoping it'll turn out to be a false alarm. He's still so young. Middle aged for a ratty. I can't lose him.
I'm kinda over 2020 now. Can we start trying out 2021? 💔

PINKS UPDATE!
The results of the samples my vet sent out has finally returned (it's taking longer in this covid time) and she tested positive for pasteurella spp in her lungs. This can (and has in Pinks case) also affected the heart.
She has been prescribed the correct antibiotics for it and I've started that treatment immediately in addition to the other treatments (which is staying in place for now)
My vet is optimistic that the damage to her heart and lungs may be reversed since we caught it so early and rats are so great at healing. However there's no guarantee and only time will tell if this is the case. Sometimes it develops in a chronic condition that needs lifelong treatment. I'm really hoping that won't be the case.
Pinks is looking good and being her wonderful self so I'm super relieved to have a full answer now. It's easier to process than all the what ifs. She's going to the vet again on Thursday for another follow up.

PINKS UPDATE
The meds worked very well to clear the fluid from her lungs. With those sounds gone the vet could hear her heart better and she does believe Pinks is in early stages of heart disease.
The good news is she says the prognosis is positive on meds and she can still manage on them for a long time. So she will be permanently on heart meds and the water tablets as needed.
They also took a swab for testing just to make sure no pathogens are at play as well. Those results will only be available in about a week.
I feel much better. Still worried about her due to her heart but she looks genuinely good and is also sounding much much better so for now I think it's good. Posting times
