We are so excited to share with you Kōkua Hawai’i Foundation’s new ʻĀINA Video Series that complement the ʻĀINA In Schools Curriculum! Videos include tutorials on how to make ʻĀINA Close to the Source Snacks from the ʻĀINA Nutrition Education Curriculum like Poi Smoothies and Brainy Guacamole. Applications for the Hawai’i Youth Sustainability Challenge (HYSC) are now open for the 2020-2021 school year! A program of @kupuhawaii and Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation, the HYSC is an initiative to empower Hawaiʻi youth to create solutions to conservation and sustainability challenges in their schools and communities.The solutions to the challenges must be student-driven. For the 2020-2021 school year all projects must be able to be completed remotely (off campus).  Selected students must be in grades 9-12 and will receive funding, mentorship, and training to support their innovative and grassroots environmental initiatives. — Head over to www.kupuhawaii.org/hysc to learn more! —

Typically, every September ’i organizes large community beach cleanups on Oʻahu for International Coastal Cleanup Day (ICCD). Now, ICCD has expanded to International Coastal Cleanup Month! Although we can not gather for large-scale beach cleanups this year, you can still do a solo cleanup at your favorite beach or in your neighborhood. While working to make Kōkua Hawai’i Foundation’s new Hale’iwa home ready for our community, Co-founder @jackjohnson discovered a thriving bee community living in the old walls of what will become the Kōkua Community Center!
