We didn’t get too many clear blue skies on our rookies trip, but on the ones we did, oh boy, was is the best thing ever!!! Q: Have you ever had a day on a trip where you had the most perfect weather? Did that one day make up for any of the less than perfect weather days?

Having Clifford (@thebigred_westy ) 🚘 has been such a nice treat this summer. As we are heading into the fall, with no travel plans insight, we have all our summer road trip memories to look back on. I finished this book back in January and we were planning on releasing it right after our Kilimanjaro trip, but then the pandemic struck. Since then we’ve been waiting and waiting for the “right time” to promote travel and get back into travel. But the reality is, we don’t know when that will be. And most importantly, it's going to be very different for each person depending on where they are from and where they want to go. First and foremost this ebook is a planning book. Full of tips, advice, hacks, and resources. And while some of us can’t really travel right now, we can start dreaming, saving, and planning for when the time is right. Although in the next year I imagine even more changes will happen, and we’ll update the book again when that happens. Where have I been the last few weeks? Wedding Planning💍. It’s unsurprisingly stressful and a lot of work to put together a wedding in a few months, during COVID, with all the uncertainty and restrictions. We are also on wedding Plan C, after Plan A and B were cancelled and changed. 😢 I am planning on hopefully doing a video of some sort to update you on what all has changed, but that won’t happen till after the wedding. Until then, we have a wonderful Rockies Road Trip series for you to enjoy this month! First video already posted! Now, it’s back into wedding mode! 👰

Last week we drove out to the Canadian Rockies in Clifford @thebigred_westy . It was such a treat being on the road and exploring our own backyard. We did a lot of hiking and camping, which seems like the normal of what most everyone else has been up to this summer. When your backyard looks like this, I’m okay with that 😊 We just started posting IG stories as we had zero cell service during our trip, so it’s a week behind but that means you can start following along right now 😎🏔

This has been the slowest summer I can remember. I haven’t hung out with friends, no late night BBQs or evenings out. No exploring cool new towns, museums, accommodations. No trying new drinks or foods. No planes, or trains, some automobiles 🚗 (thanks to @thebigred_westy ). No places I haven’t been before. It’s weird, this slower pace of life, of travel. It’s made me really appreciate how lucky it is to be able to explore like we did. But it’s also been a nice change. This year, and I imagine a good part of next, is about nature, enjoying the outdoors, exploring our own backyards and really appreciating this world, even if it’s going through a rough patch atm. 💛

Oh my, it’s almost been a month since my last post here. To be honest, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying being off the social content grid. At the beginning of this quarantine, back in March, I made a plan with myself as to what I wanted to get out of my time in quarantine. My answer was a break. Time off from creating, and to just enjoy other things. I’ve been creating content pretty non-stop since 2006, on youtube, then every other social media platform as they appeared. It’s been a lot. Now I’m not saying I’m burnt out or anything, I’ve learnt the art of pacing content creation many years ago. But it’s been nice to slow down and not force out content just for the sake of keeping up with the “algorithm”. I started posting content back in 2006 because I wanted too, and I’ll keep posting the content I want , when I want, for as long as I want. What does that mean for you? Well lucky ducks, summer in Canada is short, beautiful and gosh darnit I'm taking advantage of it. We’re in the process of filming a whole bunch of westfalia videos, plus TRAVEL vlogs, omg, around our home province of BC. So, it’s been a nice break but I’m excited to turn on the cameras again.

We bought a Westy!! 🚐 It’s something @mattofstie and I have been discussing for years, and summer 2020 seemed like the perfect time to jump on the wagon in our own cool vanagan 😎 So, our plans for the summer are here: roadtripping around BC, our amazing home province here in Canada, in our 1987 Volkswagen Westfalia campervan. We are so excited to share this with you guys & gals, it’s been a sad, quiet time for travel and it’s very nice to finally start looking forward to something ❤️ We do however need your help with naming her/him... leave your suggestions down below!

3 months ago, which now seems like a lifetime, @mattofstie and I had just finished up the craziest adventure of our lives: successfully summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro, as well as started a whole new one by getting engaged at the summit💍! . I’m so incredibly grateful that this was our last adventure, what better way to kick off quarantine than that. But it also makes me sad, as I love sharing my vlogs so that YOU can follow in our footsteps and experience these adventures yourself. . But the good news is, Mt. Kilimanjaro isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. So you’ve still got lots of time to make it happen! 👊🏔 . Ps. If you haven’t seen our summit engagement video, links in the description!
