I like things that are weird. I don’t know if these are “cool” because a few people I showed them to were like eh they’re ok whereas I have such a rich memory of the wonder of this dive. Anyway a little bit about each photo below :)
When you spend lots of hours underwater it’s not just the obvious pretty stuff that attracts my attention but the unique things that hold me the most.
Max depth ~ 32m/100 ft
Photo 1: anytime I had my flashlight on an in the cloud the camera picked it up at this huge glowing orb. This one looks like magic to me even with the overexposed parts.
2: Space. We were all alone down there. When you’re sinking down the ground looks solid even though it’s liquid.
3: sinking into a hurricane?
4: half in half out. The clouds look like a frozen lake or ice patterns.
@josiahwg as usual capturing such amazing imagery. These were strange to edit so if you don’t like the colors that’s my fault not his😋
Ps: if you need a dive guide in Tulum I highly highly recommend @tulum.breathtaking Angel was so fun and helpful and a great base of photo and dive knowledge of the cenotes.
Sunset magic on Moorea💛 I’m laying under the stars listening to the waves. Today I swam with baby whales, planted corals, surfed, and did sunset yoga with a group of humans who give so much of themselves to make the world a better place.
My heart is so full and inspired. Thank you, thank you thank you. Mahalo merci maruuru.
From here until infinity... Certain expressions of art make me feel things. Or they can more aptly express what I feel on the inside without words. It’s this wonderful recognition of - yes, exactly that. This is one of those photos for me. I think it’s intensely personal though? I’m curious, what does this make you feel?

This morning I’ve been thinking about the patterns of my choices over the last few years. What is where I hoped it would be and what hasn’t really changed?
I’m left with two beliefs that I try to remember when things feel scary or frustrating.
Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know. Running away, ignoring it, or repeating the same decision keeps things easy but ultimately leads to the same result.
Growth happens at your edge whether that’s through expansion, or breaking and making something new. The highest achievers and the biggest dreamers had the audacity to constantly be making new mistakes.
@josiahwg
🌲 Creativity comes from having constraints.
We often think of creativity as a process that happens when we have lots of time, great light, no boundaries etc ... when in actuality I think it’s the opposite.
My favorite work often comes out of unlikely conditions - only a few photos left on the camera, shooting in murky sea grass, someone’s neighborhood pool and a cheap film camera.
This road trip all started with an idea. @josiahwg and I usually travel around the world finding the best dive locations - but could we find alpine lakes in Washington where maybe no one has ever thought to shoot?
On a tip from a friend, we took my Kona on the ferry to the Olympic Peninsula. With a small window of sun and a water housing with a less than ideal lens (we forgot a piece, woops) we jumped in. The clarity rivaled ANY of the best spots I’ve been to in the world and is a bigger version of one of the coolest dive spots in Borneo - but on the side of the road in Washington!
Do I think this is the best photo that’s ever going to come from this lake? No way. But I hope it inspires all those people who tell me they want to dive more often or shoot more but they’re waiting for X.
Better comes from the act of doing.
Creativity sees opportunity where others see obstacles.✨
There are thousands of cenotes in the Yucatán peninsula, and even in a month of living here I only got to see a handful.
Honestly, the ones around Tulum especially can be super crowded (And weekends even more so).
So we drove a few hours away to get this one to ourselves 🥰 rope swing, backflips, nachos it was a dang good day.
A few of my favorites:
Cenote Calavera (jumping)
Cenote Angelita (scuba)
El Pit (scuba)
Car Wash Cenote (freedive or scuba)
Cenote San Lorenzo Oxman

Wait for it ..✨ falling into light shot on @Gopro with @josiahwg.
I’m stoked to be part of the ! This year all of us are creating independently and of course I chose diving for my adventure :)
I had originally seen a cool clip from @Everchanginghorizon from this cenote and thought it would be fun to do my own take on it once we saw the light rays.
Such a fun day jumping and diving (minus seeing all the bat poo at the bottom😂🙈).
To everything I’ve ever lost,
thank you for setting me free.🤍

Hello, aloha, bienvenidos to the 70k new faces around here! Ask me anything I’m on an hour car ride to a cenote :) I’ve never had anything go viral in my 5 years of doing this so it’s quite wild to grow that much in one week🤭.
Fun fact It was only in the last year or two that I felt really confident in posing in front of a camera.

Wow 1 Million☺️🌟 I’m sending love to every single person hustling for their dreams.
Sending love to every person who is completely unsure about what they want to do. Sending love who everyone who knows but hasn’t started quite yet.
You are worthy. You are capable. You are on the right path... (*there is no right path).
I often used that mantra (except replacing it with I instead of you) over the last few years and today seemed like a good day to share it with all of you.
I am thanking you all so deeply and so graciously I hope you can feel it.

Velvet hour road-tripping in my @hyundaiusa Kona last month. Over the course of 8 days we hiked 40 miles, did 2 backpacking trips, swam in alpine lakes, and picked heaps of wild blueberries.
What you don’t see is @Josiahwg healing a sprained ankle. Me being nervous about how my knee will hold up. The awkward conversations between friends we could or couldn’t see due to pandemic safety. The wildfire smoke that engulfed this whole area only a matter of days after we left.
2020 has been a forceful year. It’s forced us to stay at home, forced us to see racial inequalities that we never took into account, forced us to see the level of human impact in nature with these fires. For many of us 2020 has forced us to take a step back and not be distracted. To see things how they really are and in turn question, how can we do better?
As kids some of us were punished by sitting in timeout to think about our actions. In a way, this year reminisces that feeling. I suppose in the same sense it’s up to us in how we perceive this ‘punishment’.
Do we fight back and cast away blame from ourselves? Or do we use this time to dig deep and find places in our own lives that can change for the better? Making conscious changes in our lives that make us better listeners, better stewards, and more thoughtful communicators. Maybe 2020 is just the road map guiding us back through all the lessons we might have missed.
PS: I was so impressed by their Kona that I actually bought it after driving it for last year’s campaign. So when I said I liked it, I really meant it :)
