Probably the season I've been missing more than the others is Autumn.
I think it's an incredible time of the year, the transition from the summer heat to the cold winter.
Maybe I like this period so much because somehow it reminds me that there's not just cold and hot but a lot of different temperature shades.
Plus I've always found interesting how we, humans, start to wear more clothes while trees get rid of theirs, knowing they will glow again next spring.

I think summer is definitely over now. This was probably one of our best sunsets while cooking dinner at a little church on the side of the road.
We were cycling along @laviasilente
route, in the south of Italy.

is a 600 km route with 13k meters of climbing. There is no flat section, there's a lot of sweat, but take your time and enjoy the landscape, because those views are just the best reward.โ

"Look there's a short cut. It's just 500 metres, let's try it. Even if it turns into a hiking trail who cares, it's so short we can push the bicycles."

And then of course the gravel road turns into a hiking trail. It's all laughing, taking pictures and enjoying the little adventure.

And then the hiking trail disappears into some blackberries bushes at the end of which there's a wired fence high enough from the ground to lay your bicycle on the side and push it on the other side. You still keep smiling although you come out with flat tires and badly scratched legs.

6 years on the road and still we haven't learned that a 500 meters short cut is never a good idea. We keep saying it's going to be the last time we do that...the last time for today, tomorrow another short cut awaits!

Lake Barrea, is one of the gems of central Italy, nestled among the Appennini Mountains range. It's located in the Abruzzo region, and it's inside a National Park. If you camp on the lake shore, don't be surprised to watch deers just outside your tent. ๐ธ
