This Wednesday, our International Lecture Series will ask: “Can Architecture Be More Horizontal?”
.
Guest speakers Pooja Agrawal (Assistant Director of Service Strategy at Homes England) and Antonia Blege (Architectural Designer at Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios) will talk to co-hosts Tyler Ebanja, Lolly Griffiths and Naomi Rubbra about the role of the architect in building relevant and adaptive places, and how close knowledge of communities’ needs should be used to break down dysfunctional and dangerous tradition.
.
The Autumn 2020 International Lecture Series has been produced in collaboration with Naomi’s studio PeopleMatter @peoplematter___ who “rethink cities to improve quality of urban life.”
.
To watch this Wednesday, simply visit our YouTube channel at 18:00 BST. Link in bio to the full ILS schedule.👆
📸 People Matter
Congratulations to Tengku Sharil Bin Tengku Abdul Kadir, who graduated from Architecture BSc this year, and who has won the @architectsjournal Student Prize 2020: Sustainability Award for his project ‘One Tree Manual: Towards a Better Timber Architecture.’
.
The project proposes a paradigm shift in attitudes towards the use of timber and trees in architecture, as Sharil advocates that growing demand for timber should not be met by increased logging, but through maximising the potential of every tree harnessed for construction.

Speakers from across the globe are now confirmed for The Bartlett's International Lecture Series this Autumn 🍁
.
This term, the format of the event series is moving from 'lecturing' to 'conversing.' The series aims to upend academic conventions, undermine traditional knowledge-power relationships, and place a bright spotlight on issues of equality, equity, diversity and inclusion.🌍
.
This Wednesday's event will be a discussion on intersectionality in architecture, co-hosted by Eva Tisnikar and Peg Rawes.
.
