A treacherous vessel.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
@ChiharuShiota’s solo show ‘Navigating the Unknown’ at @KoenigGalerie London literalizes a metaphor to create a powerful, dark new installation
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Skeletal boats are suspended in space, connected by a tangle of dark ropes. The artist explains: The boats float within the space, like a body floating in water. ‘Each line is like an emotion,’ the artist explains.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To explore the work in person, you'll need book a ticket via the König Galerie website.

Constantly evolving 🐛
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In his sculpture ‘Córdoba,’ the artist Marco Castillo sought to represent ‘the metamorphosis of a circle into a five-pointed star, operating as a metaphor of the formal and ideological evolution – or involution. The piece can be read in both directions – like a cycle – from the star to the circle and vice-versa.’
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It was among the highlights of our recent themed Online Viewing Rooms, OVR:2020. What will the next digital presentation bring? Stay tuned!

Some autumnal inspiration courtesy of American painter @DanielHeidkamp.
Of observational landscape painting, the artist has said: ‘I believe the secrets about how color works and the shape of leaves, it’s all in nature already.’

Sowing doubt.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Presented by @FrithStreetGallery, Daphne Wright’s latest exhibition is appropriately titled ‘A quiet mutiny – persits.’ In monochromatic sculptural installations, Wright injects doubt into our perception and relationship to functional objects.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The objects she focuses on – houseplants, a stroller, a drying rack – are all incidental to everyday life: things that we only see when they are in use, and fade into the background when they are not. But Wright carefully threads strangeness into her sculptural recreations, gradually casting doubt on what it is we're seeing and how we relate to the familiar.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
‘A quiet mutiny – persits’ is on view now through November 14 in London.

Gallery exhibition spotlight: @GalerieObadia presents ‘The Village,’ Luc Delahaye’s fourth solo exhibition in Paris.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The photographer created this new body of work during a long-term residency in a Senegalese village, located near the river after which the country was named, documenting intimate moments of day-to-day life.

Stepping into a world of color.
@GaleriaNaraRoesler in São Paulo presents ‘Virá,’ a solo exhibition dedicated to the work of Brazilian artist Bruno Dunley. Including the his most recent paintings and works on paper, the show kicks off the gallery's new 2020 program, opening on September 30 by appointment only.

High-touch art 💅
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
@Gina_Beavers has a uniquely tactile approach to painting. Highly sculptural surfaces of acrylic paint jut out of the canvas surface, creating a disorienting trompe-l'oeil effect. The artist sources her imagery and titles from niche online communities, and the title of her current solo show at @MarianneBoeskyGallery, ‘World War Me,’ is a cheeky reference to an online meme.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Discover the show at the gallery's New York location now through October 17 – visit the site to book your appointment.
