Resting is so badass right? If you’re like “Um no, it’s boring and a waste of time” then I GET YOU my friend .
.
But take it from anybody that’s had a burnout, whose stress levels lead them to getting seriously ill, or just from yours truly — you’re a lot more productive and efficient in your job, your relationships, your fitness, and life in general when you give yourself time to RELAX .
.
💡It may take a mental shift. It did for me. Here are some little mantras that I use:
👊 “Resting is Badass”
👊 “Today my workout is to relax”
👊 “I’m boosting my productivity by taking a break.”
👊 “This [insert restful activity] is my mental workout”
👊 “Do you even rest day, bro?” .
.
One of my favourite ways to get a few minutes of me-time is with the UFO 2. Thanks to @foreo for sharing this cute little smart mask device with me that offers that spa-like rejuvenating treatment that I can enjoy from my own home. I will leave a link in my BIO for you to check it out! AD .
.
.
One of my first solo-travelling memories is when I had just finished my first 200hr TTC and I went to find a quiet beach to decompress after those intense 4 weeks .
.
The journey meant something like 5 buses, a flight, and 3 tuktuk rides that took about 30 hours, and probably 10 years off my life 😅 .
.
When I finally arrived at my hotel, the sun was just beginning to set 🌅 and I sat in a hammock, where there was nothing between me and the sparkling waves of the ocean but a bit of sand and some tiny little crabs scurrying across it .
.
Life seemed perfect at that moment. And it was! I had made it to paradise, my life was a postcard. I wanted this moment to last forever .
.
But then the sun set. The hammock became uncomfortable. I got hungry. I remembered I needed to find WiFi so I could tell my mother I was still alive. The moment was over .
.
I often think about that hammock in the sunset. It’s like the goals that we strive for, the desires we crave, the ideas of perfection or balance that we work towards: we may get there, but then the moment passes .
.
👉 There’s no “hammock in the sunset” that we reach and can forevermore lie in. Life is a journey. Health is a journey. Balance is a journey. Relationships are a journey. Self-love is a journey. Strength is a journey. ....you get the idea .
.
Sometimes we get a hammock in the sunset. But remember to enjoy the moments in between the perfect postcard moments .
.
💛 Want help with those in between moments? I made a FREE 10-minute guided meditation, JUST FOR YOU 🧘🏻♀️ Łink in Bïö 😋 .

Movement is in our nature and any movement is better than no movement .
.
But the two main points of this video are to encourage you to remember:
.
1️⃣ you can benefit hugely from movement that isn’t traditionally seen as “exercise”. For millennia humans didn’t exercise. We just moved.
2️⃣ what works for someone else may not work for you. So don’t feel bad if all your friends love tennis and you prefer dancing. Don’t let anyone (especially people on the internet, like ME 😆) let you feel as if you’re doing something wrong if you’re not exercising how they exercise .
.
Also: I totally sat on my butt for most of the day today. But I did do some handstands in between answering emails, so...I tried! Doing our best is all we can ever do ☺️ .
.
“I wish I’d sat on my butt scrolling social media instead of doing some movement that made me feel amazing” — said no one, ever 😜 .
.
Movement is a privilege! Go do something with that amazing body of yours .
.
Movement is medicine! Did you know that when you don’t move, your brain receives more pain signals than are accurate, and perceives more pain than is warranted. 👉How to fix this? Move! Mechanoreceptors help the brain understand better what level of pain is necessary and what is just muddled nociception signals that mean nothing 🧠 .
.
Movement is freedom! 👊 We may feel restricted in our social choices with lockdowns and obligatory masks, but we are still free to move how we want. Play with variety in your movements to enjoy what your body is capable of! .
.
🍭 My creative sequencing online course is 💋ON SALE💋 for just 3 more days and is designed to help you learn how to move with more joy, freedom, and variety. 🧡Link in bio!! 🧡 .

READ THE CAPTION - Three (not always easy) steps to the perfect body:
.
Because guess what: your body is ALREADY perfect. It’s just your 🧠mind🧠 that needs some alterations .
.
👉 But I believe going from hating something about your body — especially if you’ve nurtured that hate for years — to loving it, is a very big leap .
.
(((Yes I have a past history of absolutely HATING my body. Small boobs, a “boyish” shape, a wonky nose, just to name a few, have been the victims of my obsessive mirrorside self critiques.))) .
.
So step 1️⃣ is to just 🛑 STOP 🛑 hating on it. Stop focusing on those parts of you that you can’t yet love. Accept your body for how it is. Even if you don’t love it yet. Accept it .
.
Then 2️⃣ spend that time in front of the mirror focusing instead on how AWESOME your body is. Be GRATEFUL for all the things it does for you — such as healing your wounds, turning your food into energy, and adapting to every environment you put it in .
.
3️⃣ is my favourite: turn your complaints into celebrations. For me, I no longer say “ugh my chest is so flat 😩”. I say “yay my chest is so flat!! 😃”. Try it yourself! You can actually start to trick your brain into loving the things you once hated .
.
If it helps, I, for one, think you’re perfect 💋 .
.
A year ago I decided to do something about all the comments my yoga videos get, along the lines of “your transitions are so cool!” .
.
Because the way I come up with unique, fun, funky flows and transitions is QUITE SIMPLE 💁🏻♀️ and I believe others can do it too! .
.
I broke my method down into 5 steps, with 12 tools, recorded it as 19 videos and made a PDF to go along with each video .
.
I call it my Creative Sequencing Online Course (I save my creativity for movement, not course names 🤣) .
.
It’s currently 💥ON SALE 💥 .
.
SWIPE ACROSS to see a little preview of one of the videos, and what some people have said! .
.
What you get:
• Lifetime, unlimited access to 19 videos and 19 PDFs, including a section on effective cueing for those yoga teachers out there .
• Access to a private Facebook group to support you in your creative sequencing journey! .
• A 30-day refund policy .
• A whole new approach to movement that will make getting on your yoga mat EXCITING and FRESH .

💥SALE ENDS 30 September!! 💥 .
.
.
This is a common issue and likely has its origins in one (of the many) typical yogi imbalances: strong quads + weak hamstrings .
.
For reference, the following topics are these timings in the video:
• 0:45 One cause of pain in heel-to-butt knee flexion .
• 1:41 Why it’s *NOT HARMFUL* to let your knee go beyond your ankle .
• Tip 1️⃣: Bring more activation to those heel-to-butt postures .
• Tip 2️⃣: Strengthen your quads (with eccentric contraction) in a deeper range of motion than 90° .
• Tip 3️⃣: Strengthen your hamstrings (and your 🍑 glutes 🍑 will join the party) .
.
.
As always, remember knee pain (and any pain) is very complex and individual. This video is only to highlight one possible reason and make some suggestions for how to alleviate that pain. This video, like all my videos, is not a substitute for seeing a medicinal professional 👩🏻⚕️ ♥️ .
.
💡I offer more ideas for bringing more activation to your yoga postures for stronger joints in my “Active Flexibility” online workshops. Link in bio! .
.
Love,
Adell 🧡 .

Social media isn’t real. It’s in its nature not to be real. OF COURSE we pick and choose what we share. But choosing what is relevant and trying to roll a turd in glitter are two different things ✨ 💩 ✨ .
.
I had to take a break. IG was making me profoundly anxious, yet I couldn’t just put it down and walk TF away. I considered deleting the app, and promptly got all panicky and hand-trembly at the thought of it. That’s when I realised I might have a genuine mental health situation on my hands 🤳🏼 .
.
Along with comparing myself to others in spite of knowing what a self-esteem pitfall that is, I also kept feeling a self-imposed pressure to be my “public persona” who is always smiling, ebullient, bouncing around with energy. When in reality I’m introverted, maybe a little socially anxious, prone to bouts of depression and days of deep self-doubt, and the hermit life has not yet been ruled out for my future 😂
.
And as a public figure who’s considered an “influencer” I don’t want to perpetuate a culture of always slathering on a thick mask of social makeup. (👀side note: I consider myself a “sharer” rather than an “influencer”—*I don’t want to influence anyone*; educate, yes. Motivate, sure. But influence? That’s always felt icky to me) .
.
So, just a reminder: 👊 It’s okay to feel like you need to protect your energy, 👊 to have times when you feel like you have nothing to share with the world. It’s okay to have a duvet day, to be sad for no real reason, to be the person who needs help, to feel anxious about this crazy world (reminder: the world is crazy, not you) 👊
Bloating and non-stop farts are your body’s way of saying 🌬“hey I’m struggling to digest this thing!”
.
Other common signs that your gut doesn’t like your food choices include:
- turds that resemble puddles
- skin problems
- even anxiety can start in your gut .
.
Common food intolerances:
- dairy products 🥛
- gluten products 🍞
- corn products 🌽
.
But intolerances like anything else are very individual and be very wide ranging (quite randomly, I’m intolerant to hibiscus 🌺 )
.
Cutting out the suspected culprit for a couple of weeks can be a great way to identify if it’s causing you issues .
.
.
Tell me — would you like more in depth discussions on this and other nutrition/food related topics. Comment with a 🌺 below! .
.
Myth: “I’ll become unbalanced if I practice differently on one side than the other” .
.
It’s actually quite common to be unbalanced ALREADY and so in order to bring balance, an asymmetrical movement practice is necessary! 🤓 .
.
❓How to find out what you need? Move in lots of different ways, and 👂 LISTEN 👂 to that intelligent body of yours .
.
⭐️Want some guidance? 👉Join me this Saturday at 2:00pm BST for a live & online 90-minute yoga class where we will explore Hip Mobility with Coordination in some unusual (but totally accessible) ways! 👈 .
.
Not only that, but we will build up to play with splits ( and ) 🌟 .
.
💥Click the link in my bio and select “Get Access to My Live Classes” to join me! .
.
👉 Can’t make the live? No problem! Your class pass will also get you access to the recording which you can view again and again and again! .
.
Also, I love you 😘 .
.
.
I occasionally get asked things like “what yoga poses for a flat belly?” and I respond “take sukhasana and meditate” which is half-joking but half-serious 🧘🏻♀️ .
.
Yoga is not a practice of changing your physical appearance or even your physical abilities. It’s a practice of connection, understanding, acceptance .
.
But anyway, yoga aside, these dynamic boat pose variations will work your core, abs, and hip flexors. .
.
Whether you use this physical movement to understand yourself on a deeper level is up to you.
.
👉 Check out my newest YouTube video for a 25-minute flow that is focused on this area 👈
.
.
I suppose as an instagrammer, I should tell you LIKE AND SAVE 😂 but honestly I’d much rather implore you to SMILE AND BREATHE .
.
.
Just a reminder: you’re doing great. .
.
This world makes sense to NO ONE .
.
It may seem like we understand some things, but once you pay closer attention you realise you have no clue ...
.
(Example: how to flip on the lights or flush a toilet: aside from the electricians and plumbers out there, most of us would struggle to explain EXACTLY how these work) .
.
But we’re surrounded by people who claim to know everything or act like they’ve got it all figured out. Let me tell you: anyone who believes that is a fool .
.
So, laugh in the wisdom that we are all ignorant 😜 Dont take things too seriously; we’re all lost and clueless .
.
Happy Sunday! .
.
