literally 2 people asked for it but here it is... ive spent hundreds of dollars on skincare, haircare & beauty products during this bizarre time we’re living through. i kept thinking that if i felt healthy + beautiful on the outside, that the placebo affect might hit the inside too while stuck in this depressive episode (which has indeed helped, just in the sense of developing a self care routine).

Sending out my most sincere thanks to past-Phoebe for stuffing as much food as humanly possible into our body on our Mexico trip last year. Who knew these food memories would have to sustain us for so long 😭✌🏻 Ya did us proud, kid!! Especially this meal. La primera parada de esta escapada ha sido la playa de los Cocedores y playa Carolina, las cuales están una al lado de la otra y se puede acceder caminando de una a la otra. Las dos playas son súper bonitas y hemos podido relajarnos en la de los Cocedores y ver cómo surfean en la Carolina.

Who will not jump of happiness if you have the camper just painted, the best company, good weather, beaches, nature...?😍 We’ve got everything ready for our next adventure with the camper: exploring the beautiful Cabo de Gata National Park.

Our first stop has been Cocedores and Carolina beaches which are next to each other. Both are so beautiful and we could relax in Cocedores Beach and see the surfers 🏄♀️ in Carolina beach. We spent the night in the carpark which is at the top and we had no problem at all. We could only hear the sound of the sea.

What has made you jump of happiness recently? ✍🏻👇🏼

TIP:in the morning, at the weekend (between 9and10am), a baker comes to the carpark to sell bread and pastries!😋

One of our favourite experiences in New Zealand was horse riding with Wild Coast near Raglan. They have a rustic farm in gorgeous green countryside that feels far away from it all. We rode down the hill with amazing sea views and onto a wild black sand beach where we splashed in the waves and cantered on the sand.

Weeeooo, Minion has been resurrected! If you watched our last video, then you know she was looking pretty rough. It was touch and go, but she is back on the water.

While Simon went snowboarding in Tongariro National Park, I did an 18km solo hike on the Tama Lakes Track. Even without the snowcapped volcanoes emerging from the clouds, it was still a spectacular walk in a wild, empty and beautiful landscape to two volcanic crater lakes. New Zealand continues to astound me.

Seit Tagen überlege ich, wie ich meine Gedanken ausdrücken kann.
Die letzte Zeit ging es mir nicht immer zu 100% gut. Viele Dinge kamen zusammen, die mich traurig machen. Dinge, die ich nicht beeinflussen kann und die einfach passieren.
Zum Beispiel Menschen, die mich zu tiefst enttäuscht haben und die Ungewissheit wie alles weiter geht...
Reisen ist zu unserem Job geworden und ich vermisse die unbeschwerte Freiheit, die wir in den letzten Jahren hatten.
Jeder von uns hat sein Päckchen zu tragen. Das Leben ist ein auf und ab.
Ich möchte hier immer ehrlich mit euch sein und auch mal sagen, wenn es mir/uns nicht so gut geht, denn das ist das echte Leben.
Dennoch fällt es mir schwer gewisse Dinge zu teilen. Und wisst ihr auch warum? Ich möchte nicht immer beurteilt werden und eine (Gegen-)Meinung zu allem bekommen.
2020 ist für uns alle nicht einfach und es ist auch ok das mal zu sagen. Irgendwie ist das hier alles ein ziemliches Gedankenchaos, aber am Ende wird alles gut und wenn es noch nicht gut ist, dann ist es noch nicht das Ende ❤️

When I was a kid I got way too into pressing flowers. At one point, I decided it was probably a good idea to press and log all the samples I could just in case the world ended and future beings needed to repopulate the planet’s flora. We really didnt have any problems with making decisions about becoming Vanlifers, and moving into the Van, but somehow we are having such a hard time to make a decision to get a temporarily place for the winter with the pandemic still around. Should we stay in the city and get an apartment or a cozy cabin somewhere remote ? Should we even bother ? Does it even make sense ? Even the temptation of having wifi, electricity, water and shower and all the comfort it comes with it doesn’t help us to make a decision! I guess we’ve been very spoiled with changing our scenery whenever possible. Not sure if it’s a comprise or not. The list of pros and cons are mixes up and it feels like we’re comparing Apples & Oranges here. It get’s a bit confusing!

There are moments when we feel lost, like we’re swimming against the tide with lots of uncertainties and we don't know how our future will unfold. But, it’s amazing how a simple hug, touch, or holding hands can change everything in a matter of seconds. Suddenly we feel safe and we’re grounded back to earth, ready to face all challenges 💫

😰 This is how we felt that day we went to the beautiful Sosua Beach. We had lots of challenges the past weeks with our online business and family’s health. Even, our commute going to this beach, which was supposed to be easy, gave us lots of challenges because the driver tricked us and was asking for more money. Things were not going our way! But we paused, hugged each other and focused how grateful we are for being in this beautiful beach together to enjoy the day and have a day off from laptop work 🙏🏽

We realized how lucky we are that we are building our dream lifestyle together. As soon as we are together, we will make it work and find solutions as we always did 💪🏽

TRAVELLING TEACHER TIP 💝
There was a Chinese holiday last week, so I planned ahead and took the week off work. I knew it would be quiet whilst my students spent time visiting their families and celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival. 🥮
It was the PERFECT time to visit Cappadocia, where I wanted to stay in a cave hotel which I expected probably wouldn’t have good signal. 📲
I also wanted to make the most of my time there, so not teaching whilst there was the best way to do that! 🎈
This is one of my TOP TIPS for TRAVELLING & TEACHING ONLINE - always PLAN AHEAD and work your schedule around your students as much as possible. 📆
I can’t stress enough the importance of being RELIABLE to your students. In China especially, teachers are viewed in very high regard and are expected to be PROFESSIONAL and RESPONSIBLE. Being an online teacher isn’t any different, and that’s what can set you apart from the rest! 👩🏼🏫

We have learned a lot of new things while building out this new van.......

-finding water fittings is a pain
-wiring multiple items on one circuit
-how to wrap vehicle upholstery (much more difficult than expected)
-hitch and wiring installation

And of course........WELDING!

Whew, we’ve been busy! I haven’t posted much lately, but we are still in Missouri, moochdocking at our friends. Farmer Lilya loves time here, crawling on hay bales, mowing, feeding the chickens, ducks, and playing with all the dogs.

We’ve also spent time catching up with family and friends. And then there are all the realities of life that need tending to; work, doctors, vets, dentists, accountants, educating myself on all the voting issues, purging and retooling to get back on the road.
.
We leave for New England on Sunday in hopes of catching the remaining fall foliage. 🍁 Time has flown by for our visit here, but we hope life will have returned to some level of normalcy by Spring for our return, and we can catch up with everyone we’ve missed this time.
.
Most importantly, I’m so glad Lenny was able to come back for his work. Charity organizations have been hit hard this year, but the need for food and disaster relief has increased. While all of his walks have gone virtual, he is still working with his local organizations to bring in these much-needed resources. With everything going on in the world, remember that there are people quietly giving every day. 💕

On our North Island road trip we discovered three of our favourite waterfalls in New Zealand:
- Marokopa Falls near Waitomo (with bonus rainbow!)
- Bridal Veil Falls near Raglan (which you can view from various perspectives)
- Taranaki Falls in Tongariro National Park (an easy 40 minute walk from Whakapapa village, but I recommend continuing on to the Tama Lakes).

It was the perfect end to our time in Cappadocia before heading off to the seaside again next. 🌅
Cappadocia has been one of my all-time FAVOURITE places to visit. I’ll definitely be back again someday, but I can’t bear to be away from the sea for too long! 🌊

Instagram v reality...
I’ve shared a lot about my amazing travel experiences recently, but that’s not the only reason I started this Instagram account.
I originally started this account to show a different side of travel - a different image to what was already out there. I wanted to share the reality of travel - the highs and lows, the ups and downs.
Travelling the world is amazing, but it’s not without its difficulties.
Cappadocia has been one of the most enchanting, magical experiences of my life, but it’s obviously not been 100% perfect either, because that’s not how life works. I’ve come on my period, had a blocked nose for the duration of the trip due to the change in altitude/pressure, and felt generally anxious throughout. These totally normal parts of life still follow you wherever you are in the world...even if you’re “living the dream”.
For every picture out there that you see and like, remember there’s a reality behind it that you can’t see from your screen. I’m very lucky in many ways to live the life I do, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have bad days or normal problems too.
I once saw someone say something about not comparing your own behind-the-scenes to someone else’s highlight reel, and I think that’s so important.
So - here’s your reminder to keep that in mind the next time you’re feeling rubbish about yourself or your own “imperfect” life. 💫
